Odeur de l'océan
Lake Kivu is a lake. Rwandans know this. We still call it the ocean.

Rwanda is landlocked, so we make do. Lake Kivu has a sandy shore, waves on a windy day and sunsets that deserve a passport stamp, which is why it gets called the ocean with a perfectly straight face. “Odeur de l’océan” is the meme; Kivu is the place.
I spent a June 2024 weekend there, mostly watching the light change over the water. Highly recommended for anyone who needs the sea and has a weekend.
