Zanzibar: white sand, wide hats

Four days of Indian Ocean blue, Stone Town alleys and a hat that did a lot of heavy lifting.

In March 2025 I traded Kivu for the real thing. Four days in Zanzibar: boat rides over impossible blue, beaches with sand so white it squeaks, and Stone Town’s narrow streets that keep opening onto the sea.

The hat appears in most photos because it earned its place. The Indian Ocean does not do moderate sun.
